ESEL is a program for kindergarten-aged children. Under this program, any child who has seen a doctor of optometry and requires eyeglasses will be provided with a free pair.
No forms are necessary. all you need to do is book an appointment with your Calgary Children’s Eye Doctor and tell them you would like to participate in Eye See … Eye Learn.
When Should I Schedule An Eye Exam For My Child?
While most adults only require an eye exam every two years, growing children can require eye exams on a slightly different schedule. The Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends you bring your child in for an eye exam on the following schedule:
- Babies should have their first eye exam between six to nine months of age
- Preschool-aged children should have at least one eye exam between the ages of 2 and 5 years
- School-aged children between the ages of 6 to 19 years should have an eye exam annually.
