How to Care for Your Contact Lenses Calgary

The most important thing when it comes to properly caring for your Calgary contact lenses is knowing what type of replacement schedule you're on. Do you need to replace your contacts after each wear? After each couple weeks? Or after each month? Knowing this is the key to keeping your contacts working properly and maintaining your overall eye health. Once you know the replacement schedule, you need to make sure your contacts fit properly. Which is something we'd be happy to help you with.

CONTACT LENS FITTING IN CALGARY

Now that you know the replacement schedule of your contact lenses and have them fitting properly, here are some daily tips for taking care of them:

  • Always wash your hands before handling them
  • Make sure your hands are dry and free of any soap or moisturizers before handling them
  • Avoid touching the contact lens with your fingernails, only use your fingertips
  • Only use unexpired solutions when storing or cleaning them
  • Do not use water or saliva to clean your contact lenses
  • Read and follow the instructions for your cleaning or storing solutions carefully

How NOT to Care for Your Contact Lenses Calgary

  • When it comes to properly wearing your contact lenses, the most important thing is to NOT do any of the following:
  • Wearing your contacts past their scheduled replacement date
  • Wearing your contacts while you sleep (unless they're designed to)
  • Reusing contact solution or skimping on it and not using enough
  • Changing your contact solution without checking with your NW Calgary eye doctor
  • Sharing your contact lense with someone else (we hope this goes without saying)

By following the above advice you'll ensure your contact lenses function the way they should, and are as comfortable as they can be. Like any product you own, proper care and maintenance will prolong its longevity and guarantee its effectiveness. Contact lenses are no different!
