What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a common eye condition where the vision is blurred due to the irregular shape of the cornea or eye lens.
What causes astigmatism?
When the cornea or the lens inside the eye is a cylindrical shape instead of round, light entering the eye cannot focus correctly, resulting in a blurred image.
How is astigmatism diagnosed?
People with astigmatism experience blurred vision, headaches, and eye discomfort (such as eyestrain and fatigue). A comprehensive eye examination can check for Astigmatism.
How to treat astigmatism?
For mild astigmatism, treatment is often not needed. However if you have moderate and high astigmatic eyes, corrective lenses such as eyeglasses or contacts are needed. Laser eye surgery is also an option for the appropriate candidate.
