Before you head out this summer, make sure you’re aware of the potential factors that can be really harmful to your eyes.
Protect your eyes during the summer months by doing the following:
- Make sure you and your family have proper sunglasses. Sunglasses will help improve your eye's comfort level while enjoying the sun. Quality sunglasses also reduce your chance of developing cataracts.
- Use glasses or sunglasses. With hay fever and pollen on the rise, having spectacles act as a barrier between your eyes and the outdoor elements is smart. Wearing glasses can lessen your symptoms and make your days more pleasant.
- Wear proper eyewear. Whether you’re heading to the community pool, snorkeling on holiday or enjoying the lake, be sure to bring along the proper eyewear. Chlorine and salt water can be quite harsh on your eyes, so always wear goggles to protect them.
- Maintain a good hygiene routine with your contacts and glasses. Summer allows us to be outside more frequently and that puts us at risk for infections. Glasses and contacts should be cleaned and disinfected regularly with the appropriate products.
